NEAR's High-gain Antenna

High-gain Antenna

A 1.5-meter high-gain antenna mounted on a tripod on top of the NEAR spacecraft will be used to measure the change in wavelengths produced by Eros' movement. This antenna is also used to down link information from the spacecraft to the Earth. This high-gain antenna works at a higher rate than the two other low-gain antennae mounted on the spacecraft.
