Technical Information

Which web browser works best for this activity?

We have tried to make the program as user-friendly as possible, but due to the variety of Web browsers (e.g. Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, etc.) you may find some problems we may not have. While designing this program we used both Netscape Navigator 3.0 beta5 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 beta2 to view our work.

Some people do not like the screen split with frames (Table of Contents/Display Information), so we have given you the option in the very beginning to get rid of this option. If you click on the "No Frames" button from the main Table of Contents, the frames will be eliminated. This may also help the students by giving them less choices of where to go which may help them to follow the activity in order.

Some Web browsers will not perform the grading option on the online quizzes due to fact that we used JavaScript in creating them. We have had very good luck using them in Netscape 2.x and greater. America Online's browser and Microsoft Internet Explorer would not grade the quizzes at the time we posted this site.

Educators should check for information on free browsers at:

How do I print a page?

You can print any page that you are viewing from Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. All you need to do is click on the print button found at the top on the tool bar. This should print both the text and pictures. (Note: Color pictures will come out greyscale on b/w printers.)

Table of Contents for no frames/no JAVA browsing.
