NEAR image of the day for 2000 Dec 15

Rugged Landscape NEAR Shoemaker obtained this image on December 10, 2000, from a 119-kilometer (74-mile) altitude. In this part of Eros -- just south of the large crater Psyche -- kilometer-wide and larger craters stand almost shoulder-to-shoulder, lending a rugged appearance to the surface. The picture covers a region about 4.1 kilometers (2.5 miles) across.
